Retailer's Price Guide Column Descriptions
This page is a description the data in the Retailer's version of the PriceCharting Price Guide. The documentation explains what each column means so you can be sure to use it correctly in your business.
Product ID - Column 1
A unique number assigned to every game in the PriceCharting database. This number is unique to PriceCharting and does not change over time. This is the best column to use if you are creating a relationship between our data and unique listings in your Point of Sale system or database.
Product Name - Column 2
The name of the video game product. The column is generally static but some times the names are changed slightly to fix typos or correct mistakes.
Console Name - Column 3
The name of the console that the product is compatible with. Examples: Super Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox 360.
Genre - Column 4
The genre assigned to each product. This column is either from the official description provided by the publisher or our own designation when publisher data is not available.
UPC - Column 5
The Universal Product Code for the item. Most video games released after the Super Nintendo will have UPC's in our price guide. The UPC information is not readily available for some older games and most consoles and accessories.
ASIN - Column 6
The unique product identifier used on Amazon.com. This column can be especially helpful if you're listing products for sale in Amazon's Marketplace.
Release Date - Column 7
The date on which this game was originally released to public. The date is in the format YYYY-MM-DD, as are other date columns.
Publisher - Column 8
The name of the publishing company responsible for this game.
ESRB Rating - Column 9
The Entertainment Software Rating Board rating for this game. See the link for details about each rating's meaning.
Original MSRP - Column 10
The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. When the game was first released, the publisher suggested that retail outlets charge this amount for the game.
Price Date - Column 11
The last date the price was updated. In 99% of cases this will be today's date (we update the price guide every morning by 8 AM Eastern). There will be some instances where the price is a few days older. This means we have not seen an accurate price point for this product since this date.
Source Count - Column 12
The number of unique sources used when compiling the price. This helps you know how accurate the price is. Most products have more than 3 sources. Products with 1 source will not be as accurate because we don't have as much data to determine their prices.
Buy Price - Column 13
The price a retailer should pay to buy this game from their customers. This price is based upon the prices we found other sites selling the games for and adjusting the "buy price" so retailers will get a good profit on the game when they resell it.
Sell Game Price - Column 14
The price a retailer should sell the product for when no box or instruction booklet are included. The price is based upon actual sales we have tracked for this item. Most sales are between individuals. We adjust the price higher because in our experience customers are willing to pay a premium to retailers for the service and selection they provide compared to individual sellers.
Sell Complete Price - Column 15
The price a retailer should sell the product for when the box and instructions ARE included.
GameStop Price - Column 16
The price at which GameStop lists the game, in used condition, for sale.
