Methodology for Prices on PriceCharting.com
At PriceCharting.com, our goal is to track the market price of all video games and movies over time. We collect raw sales data from eBay and other online retailers. We also collect listing data from Amazon and Half. Combining this information, we calculate what people are paying for products each day. This is the price shown on our site. We've published detailed articles about updates to our pricing techniques:
The prices shown do not include shipping costs or any other transaction related costs. The price shown is the prices people are paying for the products themselves. You can read more about why shipping costs are not included on our blog.
If you know of another site with person-to-person pricing data that we should use, please email us. Let us know the URL and why it should be included.
If you see incorrect prices or prices that don't make sense, please let us know so we can correct them.
Used Prices vs New Prices
We show prices for products in both
used and new conditions.
New
always means brand new, still sealed in the original box.
Used
has a slightly different meaning depending on the age of the
system.
On older game systems, used
means the game only with no box or instructions.
On newer disc-based systems, including DVD and Blu-ray, it means the game
with the case and instructions.
This difference exists because the average listing for newer systems includes
the original case and instructions while older systems usually don't.
In summary, used means:
- Older Systems (NES, SNES, Genesis, VHS, etc)
- cartridge only
- Newer Systems (PS1, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360, DVD, Blu-ray, etc)
- disc, case and instructions
